Leeds Town Hall Heritage Doors

One of our most demanding door projects involved large solid oak and pine doors from Leeds Town Hall. Some of the doors were around 10ft high and weighed approximately 120kg each.

The work involved careful transport, stripping, sanding and preparation before the doors were returned ready for the next stage of the restoration programme.

Projects like this need planning, handling, labelling and experience. Large heritage doors are not simply “dipped and done”; they need to be managed properly from collection through to return.

Keighley Victorian Railings

This was a specialist metal restoration job involving Victorian railings that were lead set into the wall. The customer had been told by other companies that the job could not be done.

We removed the railings carefully, stripped the old coating, made adjustments as requested, resprayed them and then refitted them using a modern colour-matched resin system.

It is a good example of the type of work we can take on where removal, restoration and refitting all need to be considered together.

Oldham Library Heritage Boards

For this heritage project, around 1000 tongue and groove boards were removed, brought to us, stripped and returned for refitting and repainting.

The aim was to retain as much of the original fabric and character of the building as possible, rather than replacing the boards with modern material.

Large timber projects like this rely on organisation, careful handling and consistency. Each board needs to be processed properly so it can go back into the wider restoration schedule.

Suzuki GSXR Fuel Tank

Not every job is a door or piece of furniture. This Suzuki GSXR motorcycle fuel tank was stripped ready for repair work and further preparation.

Specialist metal items often need old paint, coatings or filler removed before proper repairs can be carried out. We assess each item first and advise on the safest approach.

Full-House Door Stripping

A regular part of our work is stripping full sets of internal doors for homeowners, landlords, decorators and renovation projects.

Old doors often have years of gloss, undercoat and varnish hiding the timber underneath. Stripping gives the customer a clean starting point for drying, sanding, waxing, painting or oiling.

Furniture Stripping and Preparation

Furniture stripping can reveal the timber, repairs and character hidden underneath layers of paint, varnish or stain.

Depending on the piece, we may use tank stripping, hand stripping, solvent methods or a combination of approaches to get the best result.

Everyday Metal Restoration

Alongside larger heritage railings and gates, we also work on smaller metal restoration jobs such as brackets, panels, garden furniture, benches and decorative metalwork.

The work can include stripping old coatings, dealing with rust, preparing the surface and advising on priming or refinishing.
