Collection, delivery and refitting

Collection, Delivery & Refitting for Doors, Furniture, Gates and Restoration Projects

Many customers do not have the tools, time, transport or manpower to remove heavy doors, large furniture, radiators, railings or metal gates themselves.

That is why Yorkshire Paint Stripping offers collection, transportation, workshop restoration and refitting options across Hull, Yorkshire and further afield.

A practical restoration service from start to finish

At Yorkshire Paint Stripping, we know that getting the item to our workshop can be one of the biggest obstacles.

Period doors can be heavy. Large furniture can be awkward. Gates and railings may need tools, fixings, lifting and safe transport. Even if you want the work done, removing and moving the item can be the difficult bit.

Our collection and delivery service is designed to make the process easier. Depending on the job, we can collect items, transport them to our Hull workshop, carry out the stripping or restoration, and return them once complete.

For some projects, we can also remove and refit doors, gates, railings or fixtures so the whole job is handled properly from start to finish.

What our collection and delivery service can include

The exact service depends on the item, property, access and what has been agreed, but we can usually help with much more than simply collecting from the doorstep.

Collection from your property
Careful transport to our Hull workshop
Door removal and re-hanging where booked
Large furniture handling
Gate and railing removal where suitable
Return delivery after restoration

Items are handled carefully, protected where needed and transported in a way that reduces the risk of unnecessary damage.

1

Removal from your property

If removal is part of the agreed job, we can help take down or release items before they are transported to the workshop.

Carefully unhinge and remove doors
Remove suitable panels or wall-mounted items
Unbolt gates, railings or fencing panels where possible
Handle large furniture and awkward pieces
Label items where needed
Check access before lifting or moving
Plumbing, gas, electrical or specialist building work may need to be carried out by the appropriate qualified trade before collection. We will advise if that applies.
2

Secure transport to the workshop

Once removed or collected, items are transported to our Hull workshop for stripping, preparation or restoration.

Doors, furniture, metal gates and heritage items need careful handling. Heavy doors and awkward shapes can easily be damaged if they are thrown into a van without proper thought.

Protected and handled carefully
Secured during transport
Managed around weight and access
Checked into the workshop
3

Professional stripping or restoration

Once at the workshop, the item goes through the agreed process. This may be straightforward paint stripping, or it may involve preparation, sanding, rust treatment, repairs or refinishing.

Paint and varnish removal
Rust removal and metal preparation
Cleaning and neutralising where required
Drying before finishing
Timber repairs where agreed
Sanding, waxing, priming or respraying where booked

We will always confirm what is included before work starts, so you know whether the job is stripping only, stripping and sanding, stripping and finishing, or a fuller restoration package.

4

Return delivery and refitting

Once the work is complete, we can arrange return delivery. Where refitting has been agreed, we can also re-hang or reinstall suitable items.

Re-hang doors with correct alignment where possible
Refit suitable gates, railings or fencing panels
Replace damaged or worn fixings where agreed
Fit new hinges, brackets or latches where required
Check doors close and swing correctly
Final hand-over once complete
If existing frames, posts, hinges or walls are badly out of line, rotten, loose or damaged, extra work may be needed. We will be clear about that before carrying out additional work.

How the booking process works

We try to keep the process simple and transparent from the start.

Send photos of the item or items
Include your postcode
Tell us if removal or refitting is needed
We confirm the likely price and collection options
We book a collection or drop-off slot
The item is restored and returned once complete

For larger projects, we may ask for extra photos, measurements, access details or a short discussion before confirming the job. This helps avoid surprises later.

The more information you send at the start, the quicker and more accurately we can quote.

Why use our collection, restoration and refitting service?

Removing and moving old doors, gates and furniture is often harder than people expect. Using a complete service saves time, reduces risk and avoids the need to coordinate several different trades.

Heavy and awkward items handled properly
Less risk of damage in transit
Correct process chosen for each item
One workshop handling stripping and restoration
Refitting options where suitable
Clear pricing before you commit

What might take a homeowner several weekends of removing, transporting, stripping, sanding and re-hanging can often be handled far more efficiently through the workshop.

What we need from you

To give the most accurate quote, send as much useful detail as possible.

Clear photos from all sides
Rough measurements
Your postcode
Number of doors or items
Whether collection is needed
Whether refitting is required
Any access issues, stairs or tight spaces
Any deadlines or special requirements

This helps us confirm whether the job is straightforward collection and delivery, or whether it needs removal, special handling, extra labour or refitting.

Collection and delivery for different services

Collection and delivery can be useful across almost every part of what we do.

Whether it is one door, a full house of doors, a heavy table, a gate, railings or a specialist heritage item, it is usually worth asking what collection options are available.
